    Karen Drummond has been a dedicated truffle dog handler since 2014, expertly meeting the needs of North Island growers with a team of highly skilled dogs. With a deep understanding of the truffle industry, Karen has supported growers in uncovering prized truffles such as Tuber melanosporum, Tuber borchii, and Tuber aestevum, fostering successful harvests across the regions.  Truffle Dog Services better serviced growers needs with two new team members in 2024.In addition to hands-on work, Karen established an online truffle dog training programme tailored for growers who wish to train their own dogs for orchard hunting. This comprehensive course equips participants with the skills to train their pets for truffle detection, focusing on best practices and effective training techniques.     Since 2015, Karen has also contributed to the New Zealand Truffle Association (NZTA) as an executive member, bringing extensive field experience and industry insights to support the development of the truffle sector nationwide.
